Final Presentation

This week I will be doing the final presentation for the project. I didn't run into any difficulties this week because I had finished the report and had all of the information ready. This is the final week for this project so this will be the final blog entry.

Handing in the Report

This week I handed in the report in a hard copy and soft copy format and started working on the final presentation. I ran into the issue of having a lot due at the same time. However, the presentation is due last so I will finish it off after submitting other assignments.

Proof Reading

This week I proofread the report and added in some ethical discussions. The issue I ran into this week was staying focused while reading 60 pages. However, to combat this I read 15 pages at a time having breaks in between. Next week I will work on the final presentation and hand in the report.

Finishing The First Draft

This week I finished the first draft of the report. I didn't run into any issues this week as writing the future research, conclusion, and abstract were fairly straight forward. Now I must proofread the report and add more on ethics and the treaty of Waitangi. This will be my focus for the following week until submission.

Strengths & Limitations

This week I completed the strengths & limitations section of my project. I ran into the problem of having other assignments to complete so this week was a less productive one for this report. Next week I plan to complete the Solution, Implications, and Future Research complete.

Piecing Together a Discussion

This week I focused on collating the information I gathered from interview participants to form a solid discussion. I ran into the problem of figuring out how to make all the information flow together. Next week I will continue to write the discussion, solution, implications, future research, and conclusion.

More Interviews

This week I conducted two more interviews. I was given lots of useful information for my project and for future research. One problem I faced was that one of the participants did not want to be recorded so, I will not be able review the interview. This made it harder to remember their answers to my questions. Next week I will be focusing on the findings and discussion.

Research Method & Data Collection

This week I focused on writing the research method and data collection portion of my project. This included explaining how the interviews were structured and recorded. The issue I faced this week was lacking experience in writing research methods. Next week I will be conducting more interviews and starting the discussion.

First Interview

This week I conducted the first interview for the project with a lecturer at Unitec. I didn't run into any issues this week as I feel that the interview went well. Next week I will finish the literature review for the project and sort out more interview times.

Internal Processes of a Turbocharged Engine

This week I completed a lot of research on the internal processes of a turbocharged engine. The problem I encountered was that a lot of literature focuses on naturally aspirated engines but I managed to find enough useful information for my project. Next week I will start preparing for interviews and conduct research on the effect boost pressure has on fuel economy.

Turbo Matching Research

This week I did research on matching a turbo to an engines flow. I found a great book called 'Turbo: Real World High-Performance Turbocharger Systems' by Jay K Miller which has a lot of useful information. The problem I ran into was trying to fit all the information into my assignment. Next week I will start my research on Volumetric Efficiency.

Transferring Information

This week I transferred the information I had in my Industry investigation that is relevant to the project. This included the rationale, aim, research questions, and some literature review. I didn't experience any problems this week as it was fairly straight forward. Next week I will start doing the technical literature review towards my project.

Introductory Week

For the first week I went to the class and gained an idea of how my project would be structured. I transferred the rationale, aims and, some literature review from my proposal and altered them to fit the project. Next week I will focus on the literature review for the project which will include calculations and technical information. The problems I faced this week was getting back into the schedule of uni and motivating myself to do the work. However after the class I felt more confident and had a productive afternoon of project writing.
